Maple Grove GSA wins court victory
A federal appeals court has affirmed a permanent injunction requiring the Osseo Area School District to grant equal access to the student group Straights and Gays for Equality (SAGE). This caps a three-year-old case in which students at Maple Grove High School fought for equal access to publicize their activities on par with other school groups. OutFront Minnesota's legal program helped lay the groundwork for this case.

OutFront Minnesota applauds this ruling and further applauds the students who have, for years, consistently stood up for their rights to publicize their GSA.
This is the second time a federal court has agreed that SAGE has the legal right to equal access - to put up posters, make announcements, and otherwise publicize their group. SAGE has showed courage in challenging the district to abide by federal law and this successful case has had a direct and positive impact on gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allied students throughout Minnesota.
