Michelle Fournier
Safe Schools and Youth Community Organizer | mfournier@outfront.org
Expanding on her previous experience working with children, youth and families in educational settings, Michelle began her anti-violence career in 2006 at a domestic violence shelter in Central Wisconsin facilitating a children's support group. Since then, she has worked in a variety of settings with roles in victim advocacy and crisis services, including a year with the Department of Justice in the Victim Witness Unit at the United States Attorney's Office. Michelle brought her passion for victim advocacy to the Anti-Violence Program at OutFront Minnesota, focusing on serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities (LGBTQ) in 2009. As a Community Organizer, Michelle continues her advocacy with a concentration on anti-bullying work and making schools safe for LGBTQ youth, on an individual, systems and statewide level.
Michelle received her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michelle supervises the social work internship program at OutFront Minnesota and she coordinates OutFront Minnesota's work with the Safe Schools for All Coalition and the Minnesota School OUTreach Coalition.
