(Minneapolis) - OutFront Minnesota proudly announces a new web based
service to support the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organizing
and education efforts that occur on higher education campuses across
Minnesota. (And in states with tuition reciprocity agreements with
Minnesota).
The new
GLBT Campus Alliance is an effort to build relationships among the
GLBTA programs at private universities, Minnesota State Colleges &
Universities (MnSCU), and the campuses of the University of Minnesota.
The hope is that by making this list of GLBT Campus Alliance member’s
available, GLBT supportive campus organizations will be able to easily
connect with each other and possibly even share resource with one
another.
Beyond that, the listing will also make it easier for students, existing
and prospective, to locate the GLBT groups on their campus. Students
often want to know if the college or university that they are
considering attending has any GLBTA groups. The presence of a group can
help a GLBT identified student decide on what school to attend. Yet,
many students are still hesitant to ask campus recruiters or admissions
staff about GLBT efforts.
The new GLBT Campus Alliance is working with a number of higher
education institutions from around the state to encourage discussion and
sharing of resources. We welcome representatives to
submit contact information
about their GLBT supportive campus groups to our online directory.
