“In the Jewish calendar this week…begins the
holiday of Passover. And if there is one message that comes up
more frequently than any other regarding Passover, we see no
fewer than 36 times in the Hebrew Bible, ’Do not wrong or
oppress the stranger because you were a stranger in the land of
Egypt.’ Every single one of us at some point in our lives has
been downtrodden. Every single one of us has been a stranger, on
the receiving end of hate. And we have an obligation to make
sure we don’t treat others in that way because we know what
that’s like. The way that we treat one another reflects the
relationship that we have with God.”
