Today marks a great victory for all fair-minded citizens, but with the
legislative session continuing until May 22nd the battle isn't over. Our
opponents won't stop after today, and neither will we.
Conservative legislators in both chambers of the Legislature have
introduced multiple amendment bills at a time when action is needed in
areas such as transportation, health care, and education. These
legislators are expected to continue to demand that critical decisions
be held hostage to their single-minded drive to write discrimination
into the state constitution for the first time. Similar proposals have
recently also been rejected by legislatures in New Hampshire and
Maryland, as national polls indicate Americans’ opposition to marriage
for same-sex couples is dropping dramatically.
Now it's more important than ever to continue our momentum!
Here's how you can help us maintain the lead:
- Contact your senator and let them know you support fairness and
equality for ALL Minnesotans. You can find your legislative district
as well as contact information by using our
district finder.
- Attend justFair Lobby
Day at the Capitol on Thursday, April 27th. A strong showing is
critical to ensure the voice of GLBT equality is heard among our
legislators.
